2019 Toyota Sienna Goes Head-to-Head with Its Rivals -- Which Minivan is Right for You?

You and the family are on the road to your next van. You're looking for something exceptionally comfortable, impeccably equipped, capable for wherever the weekly grind or extended vacation takes you, and most of all, something at the head of the industry on safety. To meet all these criteria and more, you needn't look past the new Toyota Sienna. That's especially true when it comes to how our automaker's flagship minivan pulls ahead of its Chrysler and Honda competitors. Take a look at how Sienna stacks up here at Route 44 Toyota.

The 2019 Toyota Sienna vs. The 2019 Chrysler Pacifica

2019 Toyota RAV4 vs 2019 Chrysler Pacifica

  • With a powerful 296-horsepower, 3.5-liter V6 engine capable of shelling 263 pound-feet of torque, Sienna easily breezes past Pacifica, which offers a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 that puts out only 287 horsepower and 262 pound-feet.
  • Both Sienna and Pacifica get comparable highway mileage, but it's Toyota that goes the extra mile, whether that's ferrying the kids to school and practice or heading across town for some retail therapy. It gets up to 19 mpg city by EPA estimates, whereas Pacifica gets only 18 mpg in its base trim.
  • All-Wheel Drive (AWD) is available with a step up to the Sienna LE trim or later, and it incorporates active torque control to make the most of turning and pulling power. AWD isn't offered, however, in Pacifica.
  • Both of our automaker's smart safety systems, the Toyota Star Safety System&#trade; and Toyota Safety Sense&#trade; P (TSS-P), come standard in every Sienna. Pacifica may offer blind spot monitoring and a rear cross-path detection system standard, but most other comparable features are only available further up the line.
  • Sienna provides a choice among four Entune&#trade; systems, keeping you in control and in touch on the go with technologies more personalized for your needs by the numbers. Pacifica offers a selection of only three Uconnect systems.
  • Thanks to a dual-view Blu-ray Disc entertainment center with a sprawling 16.4-inch display, Sienna is better-equipped to keep everyone occupied for the ride. Pacifica and its Uconnect Theater system, on the other hand, features only 10-inch screens.
  • There's a unique Driver Easy Speak feature in Sienna that uses a microphone and speaker duo to enable communication with the back seats. Nothing comparable is available in Pacifica, however.

The 2019 Toyota Sienna vs. The 2019 Honda Odyssey

2019 Toyota RAV4 vs 2019 Honda Odyssey

  • The 3.5-liter V6 engine in Sienna comes ready to dole out 296 horsepower backed by 263 pound-feet of torque -- plenty of get-up-and-go for a boatload of family, luggage, and essentials. Odyssey is just behind the curve, with a 280-horsepower, 3.5-liter V6 churning just 262 pound-feet.
  • An all-wheel-drive system with active torque control for charging through foul weather comes available in no more than a step up to the Sienna LE trim. AWD isn't available in Odyssey.
  • Whether you opt for a base trim or go top-of-the-line, Sienna has your security covered. It incorporates both our automaker's Star Safety System&#trade; and the Toyota Safety Sense&#trade; P (TSS-P) driver-assist suite, standard. Honda Sensing, on the other hand, a similar system, comes standard only in Odyssey EX and later.
  • The four Entune&#trade; systems available in Sienna each feature a 7-inch touchscreen. Odyssey offers only two infotainment options, and one of them is an only-5-inch color LCD, standard in its base trim.
  • Both Sienna and Odyssey feature a rear entertainment system with a Blu-ray Disc player. However, where Sienna builds in a huge 16.4-inch display, that of Odyssey measures only 10.2 inches.

New Toyota Sienna vs Honda Odyssey

Never let your family's choice of transportation keep you from choosing adventure. The Toyota Sienna offers more power and better performance than the popular Honda Odyssey, making it a better choice for those with a need for speed. Enjoy 296 horsepower and 263 pound-feet of torque in comparison to the Honda minivan's 248 horsepower and 250 pound-feet of torque for your family's excursions. The Toyota Sienna also boasts a lower starting price than the Honda Odyssey, including higher trims that are comparably equipped. If you need to transport packages, luggage or recreational items to your Plymouth and Brockton destinations, the Toyota minivan makes a better choice than the new Odyssey. Compared to the Honda model's 38.4 cubic feet of cargo volume, the new Sienna lets you pack more fun with a generous 39.1 cubic feet of cargo volume. The Toyota Sienna also keeps everyone more comfortable with separate driver and front passenger climate controls, standard with all trims. The base trim of the new Honda Odyssey does not offer this feature as a standard or optional feature. It's clear to see that you get more and better features for a lower price when you choose the Toyota Sienna.
